We’re delighted to announce that the Lion & Unicorn Theatre will reopen on a limited basis from September 1st 2020.
Whilst it’s clear that Coronavirus has given the theatre industry (and all of us too) a throughly good kicking, we’re going to make an attempt to do out best over the course of the rest of this year to continue to support our brilliant fringe theatre community. With this in mind the Lion & Unicorn Theatre will be reopening from September 1st 2020 wherever possible and in line with current government health and safety guidelines. This will include:
Socially distanced rehearsal space for theatre companies in line with current government guidelines.
Filming / Production space for filmed / online theatre productions with announcements to follow about a programme of live performances.
Limited live performances - look out for more information to follow in the next few weeks.
For theatre companies wishing to bring work or make use of the Lion & Unicorn Theatre - we encourage you to contact us through the website and our usual methods to discuss programming and the booking of rehearsal space.
ABOUT US
We took over management of the Lion & Unicorn Theatre in March 2019 with the aim of accelerating the growth of our brilliant little black box studio into a destination fringe theatre venue which championed the work of our brilliant emerging fringe theatre community and put the work of some very talented theatre people back on the map.
It remains our mission to champion and support early-career theatre-makers with a unique level of support and guidance and offer rare opportunities for talented but often underexposed theatre makers to get their work made in a cost-effective and supportive environment ideal to help them make work for London's diverse audiences.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
It’s clear that social distancing is going to impact the theatre for some months to come, and indeed Coronavirus has seen our revenue sources collapse in some cases completely. We’ve been very lucky to have the ongoing support of Young’s Pubs and the Lion & Unicorn pub’s brilliant team, but we want to make sure wherever possible that we can continue to operate into 2021 and beyond to continue in ou mission to bring you the best that London’s Fringe Theatre talent has to offer.
With this in mind today we launch our #BeRightBack Crowdfunder. This campaign will help us support the brilliant fringe theatre creatives we work with to help them to continue to make the fantastic work that we were developing our reputation for prior to the pandemic. With a range of brilliant rewards as well the feel good factor of being able to support an entire community of Fringe Theatre Makers, your contribution to our campaign will go a huge way to helping the Lion & Unicorn Theatre weather the current coronavirus storm and continue to become a destination for brilliant fringe theatre in London for years to come. We’re committed to ensuring that we continue to support our awesome team of Associate Artists as well as the hundreds of creatives that we work with every year through access to rehearsal space as well as support to get their shows made and performed in front of an audience.
